INTRODUCTION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some mouse pointer clocks always display the time making it
difficult to select icons and drawers. 'PC' is basically a
mouse pointer clock that overcomes this limitation. Now,
simply click on the WORKBENCH screen to display the current
time! Other formats are soon to be available for the Pointer
Clock: 'PC'.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
FEATURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------
Standard features include:
--------------------------
o - Multitasks.
o - Uses standard INTUITION interfaces.
o - Uses the system clock.
-------------------------
Special features include:
-------------------------
o - Uses the 'SOFTCONFIG' environment.
o - Uses the 'CCFQ' convention.
-------------------------
Program features include:
-------------------------
o - Automatically changes from the clock pointer to the default
mouse pointer when the mouse pointer is moved, then back
again when the mouse pointer remains stationary for more
than a second.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
USING PC
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------
Getting Started:
----------------
You can start 'PC' from the CLI/ Shell by using:
>Run PC
... or you can double-click on the supplied icon.
If you want to run 'PC' from the CLI/ Shell, then you will either
have to 'CD <path>' where 'PC' is located before attempting to
run it, or have previously installed it in your current c: path
or directory.
(Please refer to the online help file for more information.)
--------
Options:
--------
The following options are available from the CLI/ Shell.
-q ..... Quit any currently running 'PC' program(s).
(For information on 'TOOLTYPES' please refer to the online help file.)
-----------------
Setting the time:
-----------------
To set the time, use the system preferences 'Time' command.
----------------------
Changing screen modes:
----------------------
Since 'PC' uses the current WORKBENCH window, no changes should be
made, like new screen modes, or toggling the WORKBENCH window <->
BACKDROP, without first exiting 'PC'. After the changes have been
made, restart 'PC'.
This is due to change in a future release.
-----------
Final Note:
-----------
'PC' should be started before any windows have been opened on the
WORKBENCH screen. All system drawers are simular to the WORKBENCH
window: 'PC' could use one of them instead! 'PC' will never use
a CLI/ Shell or other program window. Also, any preferences
program window that WORKBENCH can directly open and close should
not be opened before running 'PC'. After 'PC' has been started, the
before mentioned restrictions do not apply.
If the window containing the mouse pointer is closed before 'PC' is
exited via '-q' then 'PC' will 'crash' possibly causing a system
'crash' as well.
-----
CCFQ:
-----
The following 'ccf' commands are recognized when 'PC' is 'hidden':
PREF
QUIT
(Please refer to the help file(s) for 'CCFQ' for more information.)
-----------------------
Software Configuration:
-----------------------
The following variables (flags) are used:
SCREEN TO FRONT
USE PUBLIC SCREEN
(Please refer to the help file(s) for 'SoftConfig' for more information.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR ADVANCED USERS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------
'WBSTARTUP' Startup:
--------------------
'PC' can be started automatically when your system boots up, by
dragging -n- dropping the 'PC' icon into your current 'SYS:WBSTARTUP'
drawer. This type of startup is highly recommended.
---------------------
Changing PREFERENCES:
---------------------
'PC' should be started before any window's have been opened on the
'Workbench Screen' as done from the 'WBSTARTUP' drawer, or from
the 's:user-startup' AmigaDOS script.
Also, 'PC' should be exited before changing the size of 'Workbench
Screen', or toggling the 'Workbench Window' to <-> from a standard
window to a BACKDROP window.
-------
'CCFQ':
-------
Use 'CCFQ' (if installed within your c: directory) to exit 'TC' from
any CLI/ Shell.
-----------
Final Note:
-----------
'FKEY' can be used to 'launch' this program via pre-determined
keystroke(s). However, the only window open on the WORKBENCH
screen, should be WORKBENCH itself when 'PC' is launched. Any
drawers currently open could cause 'PC' to use one of their
window(s) instead of the WORKBENCH window, causing problems when
the window is closed without first exiting 'PC'.
